The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.
The team omitted the name of Rice specifically in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, posted a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.
No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.
The receiver was absent for the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left several individuals injured. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.
On the field, he finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
